And here we have some very cute, and yet slightly menacing, San Telmo graffiti. And Karl going into our building. As you can see it's for sale, and "ideal". Then we have a bus - sorry but i think these are great. Each route has a different, and very colourful, paintjob. Also the truck - there's just some great old trucks around that's all. And then that's me during a very heavy rainshower in front of the Congreso building which, Karl tells me, might be the parliament. Or might be something else entirely.

Ah hah. Now we're talking. OK. Here we have some photos of our barrio, San Telmo. It's an older barrio with low buildings and narrow streets so feels quieter and less loco than the city. All these photos are our street, Estados Unidos. It's part cute, old, sort of European feeling and part Russian- sorry we've no money for the upkeep- decay. Not to mention Argentine sorry we can't be bothered washing off the graffiti. The photo down the bottom is the view from our kitchen window over the local slums and faded mansions. The apartment also came with free (yay!) visits from the landlords cat and two kittens which got Karl (the slut) very excited but I have banned them so now we just have plaintive meows from out side the door and clearly ill-fated attempts to get in through kitchen windows that I have very carefully opened to be just too small to for a cat. And as i was at the kitchen window t

Kara learns to blog

Hello! I'm blogging, i feel like a teenager. So, two weeks into the big South American experiment and still alive, no dodgy taxi drivers, no being slipped counterfeit pesos, no express kidnappings, nada! We hoped for some drama when we came across a protest in front of the presidential palace with police waiting with a watercannon but alas it passed peacefully. Nothing hugely exciting to report so far, mainly been appreciating (and a little private gloating) having absolutely nothing to do. Roll on retirement! Done a little bit of exploring around town and hopefully photos will follow on this thing. Karl has bought a guitar and i have acquired a harmonica to entertain ourselves and if the Aussie dollar continues it's nosedive we can take to the streets to earn some money. However, if i don't find music for a song other than "Blowing in thhe Wind" Karl may murder me in my bed. Our holiday comes to an end Monday when we go back to school! Have signed up for spanish
